Good Girl Gone Bald

Good Girl Gone Bald
On February 27, 2010 Earls Main Street hosted a fundraiser benefiting CancerCare Manitoba, Pediatrics.
An Earls Server volunteered to shave off her gorgeous long locks in honor of someone very special to her. The inspiration behind the event was Brittany Odger's own experience from her Grandmother's lung cancer diagnosis in September. "Realizing I was twenty-one years old and my sixty-five year old grandmother was going to need my support, I was obviously more than overwhelmed. She is my best friend, always has been and always will be, and I knew that to show her how much she means to me would be the ultimate kind of support. After going to many rounds of her chemotherapy sessions, I dreamed up the "Good Girl Gone Bald" event" says, Brittany.
The monetary goal set for my event was five thousand dollars, and all proceeds would be donated to the Pediatric side of CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. What resulted was a huge boost to Brittany's faith in people and her community. In just under two months they managed to raise $11,300.
Brittany continues, "The night of the event was everything I imagined it to be - yellow roses (my grandmother's favourite flower) floating in water filled centerpieces, people filling the dining room with smiling faces and big hearts, the loudest cheer you could imagine in our dining room as they cut off my ponytails, and it was all completely worth it.
